How to Fast Travel in RDR2: Unlocks & Camp Options
Yes, RDR2 has fast travel. In Story Mode, the camp unlock costs $545 across two lodging upgrades. Paid trains and stagecoaches are alternatives before you buy it.
Unlock the camp travel map
- In Chapter 2, finish the first Strauss debt-collection task so the camp ledger becomes available.
- At the ledger, buy Dutch’s First Things First lodging upgrade for $220.
- Buy Arthur’s Next in Line upgrade for $325.
- Use the map attached to Arthur’s wagon to select a discovered destination.
Choose the right travel method
| Method | Where to start | Useful when |
|---|---|---|
| Camp map | Arthur’s wagon after both upgrades | Leaving the gang camp |
| Wilderness camp | Rest in the wild on an updated game, after the same unlock | Continuing a collecting trip |
| Train or stagecoach | A station or coach stop; pay the fare | The camp map is not unlocked |
Why is fast travel missing?
Check both lodging purchases, discovered destinations and whether you are wanted. Camp travel uses a destination list; it does not teleport you to any custom waypoint. This page covers Story Mode, not Red Dead Online’s separate travel system.
For a collectible route, plan the last leg on horseback. Fast travel can bring you to a nearby settlement, but the grave, animal or clue still needs its own approach. Compare your destination with the named landmark before paying for transport.
