RDR2 Panther Locations: Ordinary Panthers & Perfect Pelts
For an ordinary panther pelt, start in the woods around Old Harry Fen, south of Braithwaite Manor. This is a different hunt from the Legendary Giaguaro Panther.

Try an evening or nighttime search. These are potential spawn areas, not guaranteed animals waiting at fixed pins. Move carefully: a panther can attack before you have time to study it.
Plan a perfect-pelt hunt
- Make a manual save before the hunt and prepare your weapon before entering the woods.
- Check the animal’s quality. Start with a three-star ordinary panther for a perfect pelt.
- Use the rifle recommendation in the animal information and aim for a clean kill. Repeated body shots may spoil the material.
- Skin the animal and check the resulting pelt’s name and quality before your return trip.

Ordinary vs. Legendary Panther
The Legendary Giaguaro hunt is gated behind Master Hunter challenges 1–9. That challenge gate is not a prerequisite for hunting an ordinary panther for a satchel.
If a guide says to finish nine challenges but you only need an ordinary perfect pelt, you are reading about the other hunt. Check the animal name before changing your route.
