RDR2 Legendary Fish: Lures, Mailing & Missing Progress
Use this guide when you have reached a fishing spot but are stuck on the lure, catch or delivery. For the full list, open all 13 legendary fish locations.
Which lure do you need?
Meet Jeremy Gill at Gill Landing to begin A Fisher of Fish, then buy the Special Lake, Special River and Special Swamp Lures at the Lagras bait shop. Check for the word “Special” when equipping one.
Use the recommendation beside each fish in our location checklist. Different special lures can still work; the listed match is a useful starting point, not a guarantee of an instant bite. Food bait is not the recommended method.
Legendary fish not biting: a short check sequence
- Confirm the target. Compare the named waterway and fish location with the checklist before changing tackle.
- Check equipped tackle. Selecting the rod does not necessarily select the special lure you intended.
- Adjust the cast. Aim near visible fish movement, retrieve slowly, and try a different patch of water if nothing bites. Repeated attraction taps can scare fish away.
- Check your quest record. Separate a fish you still need to catch from one already caught but not yet delivered.
These checks address location and equipment mistakes. They do not establish that every failed catch is a bug, or promise a fixed respawn timer.
How to mail a legendary fish to Jeremy Gill
Take the catch to a post office and use the send-mail option. Small fish are carried in the satchel; large fish travel on your horse. Bring the horse close to the office. If a large catch is unavailable in the menu, carry it to the clerk and check again.
Confirm that the fish appears in the outgoing list before leaving. Catching, checking a box on this site, and mailing are three different actions. This site records only the action you manually mark.
A missing catch needs an in-game inventory and quest check first. This guide does not promise that a lost fish will automatically be delivered or respawn after a particular number of days.

Allow in-game time to pass, collect Jeremy’s invitation at a post office and read it in your satchel before following the next quest step. Some required fish are in southern regions, so plan to finish the complete collection in the epilogue.
