RDR2 Jack Hall Gang Treasure: Maps 1, 2 & 3
Follow the map you actually hold, confirm each pickup, and save your place across four stages. This story-mode route starts in Chapter 2.
First check which map you already own
The hunt begins in Chapter 2. Maximo offers the starting map on a ridge northwest of Flatneck Station. If you missed obtaining it from him, check a fence later. Before travelling, open the map in your satchel: the number describes the clue you hold, not the next map you are trying to collect.
Use this sequence to avoid backtracking: Map 1 → Caliban's Seat; Map 2 → Cotorra Springs; Map 3 → O'Creagh's Run. Check each stage only after the next map or treasure is actually in your inventory.
Holding Map 1: Caliban's Seat
Go south of Valentine to Caliban's Seat. Approach from the east, climb the rock formation, and look for the narrow ledge route near the top. Follow the cliff-side path and search the crevice for Map 2. The first clue does not lead directly to the gold.
Checkpoint: look for Map 2 in the satchel before leaving. If you are still carrying only Map 1, treat this stage as unfinished even if you reached the right hill. At a difficult ledge, re-check the path before attempting another jump.
Holding Map 2: Cotorra Springs
Travel north to the geyser area at Cotorra Springs, southwest of Wapiti. Search the central stone-pile formation for Map 3. The nearby legendary-animal territory is a separate activity; it is not a required fight for this treasure stage.
Checkpoint: confirm Map 3 before starting the eastern leg. The location name alone is not proof of collection. A map acquired on another playthrough will not be in your current save.
Holding Map 3: O'Creagh's Run
The final cache is on the small island in O'Creagh's Run. Search the loose rock near the island's southern waterline to collect two gold bars. A fence buys each bar for $500, so the two bars represent $1,000 when sold.
Checkpoint: check the inventory after the search animation. Reaching the island and selling the reward are separate from locating the cache. Take care with the water crossing; this written guide does not assess your current character, stamina or mount.
Use the last confirmed checkpoint
If a search prompt is missing, start with the last map you can actually open. That gives you one location to investigate instead of three. Compare the landmark with the clue, approach the described search surface, and make sure you are using the intended game save.
The four boxes on this page form a travel log. They are useful when you pause a trip, but they cannot unlock the next clue in the game. If you imported an old browser backup, verify its checks against the satchel before following it. For cliff paths or an unclear search surface, the source guides below include screenshots that can provide a closer visual reference.
Quick answers
Where does Jack Hall Gang Map 2 lead?
Map 2 leads to Cotorra Springs, where you collect Map 3. It does not lead back to Caliban's Seat.
How much is the Jack Hall Gang treasure worth?
The cache contains two gold bars. Selling both at $500 each gives $1,000.
Does finding the first map complete the treasure-hunter objective?
No. Finish the treasure chain and verify the in-game Total Completion entry before marking that objective.
What to do after the cache
Return to the Treasure hunt objective and compare it with the game. If you are planning what to spend, the horse comparison and Chapter 2 horse guide help you compare options without assuming the most expensive purchase is necessary.
