RDR2 Small Game Arrows: Recipe, Materials & Uses
For one Small Game Arrow, combine one regular arrow, one flight feather and one regular shotgun shell in the crafting menu.
Materials checklist
| Material | Amount per arrow | Before crafting |
|---|---|---|
| Regular arrow | 1 | Check your ordinary arrow stock |
| Flight feather | 1 | Check the exact material name after plucking birds |
| Regular shotgun shell | 1 | Check ordinary ammunition, not a different shell type |
For a batch of ten, budget ten of each ingredient. This is a recipe calculation; it does not include any arrows you recover after shooting.
Craft and equip them
- Rest or use a campfire to open crafting.
- Find Small Game Arrows in the ammunition recipes and inspect any missing-ingredient message.
- Craft the number you need.
- Select the bow in the weapon wheel, then cycle its ammunition until Small Game Arrows are equipped.
Crafting the arrows and equipping them are separate steps. If your hunt still behaves as though you are firing regular arrows, check the selected ammunition before crafting more.
Small Game Arrows or Varmint Rifle?
Use Small Game Arrows for tiny targets such as squirrels and suitable small birds. “Small animal” is not a universal weapon category: badgers and rabbits use the Varmint Rifle recommendation instead. Read Show Info for the species you are hunting.
For a perfect material, start with a three-star animal and make a clean kill. The ammunition cannot turn every low-quality animal into a perfect one.
Compare the satchel animal weapon list before a hunt. For hunting requests, check whether you need the intact carcass before skinning or breaking down the catch.
If the recipe looks unavailable
Read the ingredient names in the recipe row. A species feather and a flight feather are not interchangeable entries. This page covers Story Mode crafting; Red Dead Online has its own progression and pamphlet rules.
